Let me see if I can put what I’m feeling into words….
After a few weeks of celebration and seeing people of all ages experience serious health issues, I’m reflecting on how much I treasure these days, these moments with the people God has blessed me with.
Not only these family members but also with friends (silver & gold), women in our Wednesday night Bible study, our barre class and other small groups I’m in.

It sounds cheesy and corny to say it but I know how fast time flies. It seems like yesterday I was just a kid, then a teenager, a college student, a newlywed, then a parent…. Now we’re grandparents! 😳

The other day I was chatting with a sweet friend who was wishing me a happy birthday and telling me how much she is inspired and motivated by my writing. Those are such thoughtful words to hear… that you are resonating with people. The spoken word word carries a great deal of power but it seems as though the written word may have even more as you’re able to read, re-read and mull it over (which is why I’m constantly revising what I write 😬).
Video can also carry the same power. I’m sure you’ve had experiences with instances of all three.
I was sharing with her a Nickleback video that came to mind recently. It’s called “Saving Me.”
It’s a pretty profound video that I’m reminded of from time to time. I’m not going into it here but do recommend watching it.
Rather I’ll just say I’m reminded of Psalm 39 where David wrote:
“Lord, remind me how brief my time on earth will be.
Remind me that my days are numbered—
how fleeting my life is.
You have made my life no longer than the width of my hand.
My entire lifetime is just a moment to you;
at best, each of us is but a breath.”
We are merely moving shadows,
and all our busy rushing ends in nothing.
We heap up wealth,
not knowing who will spend it.
And so, Lord, where do I put my hope?
My only hope is in you.”
Psalm 39:4-7
We’re not promised tomorrow so this moment, today, is what we’ve been given.
Don’t waste it.
Live it, embrace it, do the thing God has put on your heart
Live to share Christ others and bring Him glory.
I’ve been reading the book of Genesis in the last couple of weeks also and I love how Moses expresses the passing of the people of God.
He says “and they were gathered to their people.”
So make sure spend time with your people here and know that you’re going to be “gathered to your people” in eternity with The Lord.
