| As we’re in the hot, dry dog days of August, I hope you’re doing your best to stay hydrated! I’m keeping a glass of water or my new favorite electrolyte drink, BAI Wonder Water with antioxidants & electrolytes close by. Scroll down for foods that are rich in electrolytes. Staying hydrated with electrolytes like sodium, potassium, and magnesium is vital for optimal cellular function. It impacts nutrient absorption, energy production, and overall cellular health. Electrolytes are also crucial for proper water absorption, cellular function and heart/organ function. Dehydration affects metabolism, contributes to insulin resistance and high blood pressure. It’s estimated that nearly 75% of adults are dehydrated. It’s a significant concern for older adults. Even mild dehydration can lead to various health issues including headaches, fatigue, and impaired cognitive function. 😲 Even though I’m staying hydrated, my skin is still craving hydration as well as moisture! What’s the difference between the two? Let me see if I can explain the difference between DRY Skin and DEHYDRATED Skin. Dry skin is a condition caused by less oil (sebum) being produced in sebaceous glands. This oil lubricates our skin AND hair. Dry skin can also be caused by a compromised lipid barrier, which holds moisture in our skin. These changes can happen over time due to age, hormones and seasonal changes. As for dehydration, your skin can be dehydrated whether it’s DRY or OILY. 😲 Dehydrated skin is often a symptom of circumstances, such as lack of water consumption, air conditioning (or heating), or too much sun exposure. It can also be a result of too much alcohol and caffeine, not enough sleep, and poor diet. 😬 To help with DEHYDRATED skin you can up your water intake. Also, make sure to get more sleep, protect yourself from the sun, and use a hydrating product to combat drying environments at the home or work. A good diet full of fresh, colorful fruits and veggies (antioxidants), regular exercise, and reduced acid intake as well as less alcohol consumption also helps. To keep your body & skin hydrated you can add certain foods to your diet such as fish, salmon, Greek yogurt, potatoes, olives, nuts, ground flaxseed + oil, avocado, bananas, watermelon, sea salt & the current craze~ pickles! These foods contain Omega fatty acids & electrolytes which help to soothe inflamed skin while protecting your skin’s moisture barrier. Fish oil capsules are also a good addition to your dry skin treatment routine. I’ve got a good recipe for fish tacos that is hubby-approved if you’d like to look at it (link below) . I try to add fish into our diet as much as possible! We take fish oil daily and I sneak flaxseed into casseroles and spaghetti sauce too. 🤫 Remember this: Hydration + Moisturization are not the same. You’ve gotta have both! Products that help: Hydrators draw water from the atmosphere and deliver it to the skin for added radiance, while moisturizers replenish the skin for less dryness and flakiness. they also have anti-aging, wrinkle fighting ingredients like peptides, retinoids, and niacinamide. 👏👏👏 Take a look at the graphics below 👇 Our Hydration Serum draws water to your skin from the environment. It uses hyaluronic acid & glycerin to create a “reservoir” of moisture on your skin to plump out fine lines & wrinkles. I usually use it either morning or night but in these dry days, I use it in the AM & PM! |

Our new Hydra Mask Gel Cream is used at night to lock in the moisture that’s in your skin.
I put it on after cleansing my face, using my toner to remove dead skin cells, applying Hydration Serum, Redefine Overnight Restorative Cream.
It serves to keep all of that moisture in and keep it from escaping via transdermal water loss + it builds & strengthens your skin’s moisture barrier, which is key to preventing moisture loss!
Your skin can better repair itself when it’s fully hydrated!
