There’s No Love Like A Dog’s

Today is Love Your Pet Day.

Now, I usually stay away from controversial & divisive topics but I know this one is going to be highly controversial !

While I also how much people love their pets, I have to say that I really believe dogs love best.

It’s their super power.

Belle & Maeley 💞

I know I’ve just offended so many people who have other pets… for all of those cat, horse, and fish lovers, stay with me for a few minutes and read on.

Our fur baby, Belle, is one of the most loveable we’ve had. She thinks everyone who comes to visit is coming to see her. She loves to snuggle with whomever will sit with her on her couch (Yes, she is the queen of our comfiest couch).

At nearly 14, she wants to snuggle more than ever. Although she usually prefers to snuggle with JT, lately she’s been coming over to my loveseat to cuddle with me. 🙂

Think about this:

When you come home, a dog will be so genuinely happy to see you that it will wag its tail and its whole back end to let you know how glad it is to see you. Not glad that you’re there to feed it, give it water or a treat but just to see you and be with you.

When JT was working and would come home from work, Belle would meet him at the door and greet him with all the tail-wagging she could muster !

He would laugh and say, ” Why aren’t you that happy to see me when I come in?” HA !

That’s a good point ( although I’m not going to wag my tail ) ! 😆

Seriously, do we feel that excited to see our family and friends?

Do our eyes light up when we get to spend time with our people?

Do we love our people with the unconditional love of a dog ?

Not to be sacrilegious, but someone once pointed out that dog is God spelled backwards which reminds me of this verse:

“If you love someone, you will be loyal to him no matter what the cost. You will always believe in him, always expect the best of him, and always stand you ground in defending him. ” 1 Corinthians 13:7-9 TLB

I think I have a new goal.

To love like a dog does, like God does.

On February 21, 2022 Belle passed over that rainbow bridge. She brought us so much joy in her 14 + years and taught us much about how to love. She will forever be in our hearts. RIP, Sweet Girl.
